Birthdays
We are not allowed to have the parents bring in a treat to eat to share with the class anymore. We will sing happy birthday and I have a goodie bag for each student to take home.
**Birthday Parties: You may send invitations home in the Tuesday folders as long as there is an invitation for EVERY student in the class (not just boys or just girls). If you do not wish for the entire class to be invited, you will need to find another way for invitations to be passed out. Please do not pass out invitations on the front porch! Other students are waiting on the porch and can get their feelings hurt if they are not invited. Thank you for your sensitivity to this matter!
Explanation of Kindergarten Folders
Blue: The blue folder is the "Tuesday" folder, and will be sent home each Tuesday. It contains information from the teacher, campus, PTA and district. There will times when information needs to be completed/filled-out and returned, so please check the folder each Tuesday. Please sign the cover and return on Wednesday.
Red: Take-Home Reading Folder:
Your child's take-home reading foldere will frequently be in his/her backpack. I use this for a variety of books, so it may contain one or more of the following:
* a guided reading book which was used in small group reading instruction
* a published book written and illustrated by your child during writing workshop
Please return all books to school. Each student has a reading "browsing box" to collect books they have made. Students will read from that box during literacy workstations. Sets of books that are used in a reading group are limited and often used with several groups at different times, so it is very important these books make it back to class.
Thank you for taking time to share these books with your child. They are always extremely proud to take them home overnight!
Drop Off Procedures:
Drop Off Procedures:Students will be allowed to enter the building at 7:25. After the
first day, parents will NOT be allowed into the building until after 7:55. This includes all volunteer parents as well - if volunteer parents arrive before 7:55, they will be asked to wait in the front office.
Pick up Procedures:Kindergarten students will be released at 2:50 in the FRONT of the school. We sit in the "butterfly" line. If you see your child, PLEASE do not grab them from our lines - after all students are sitting on the pink butterfly line, I will slowly start releasing them back to you.
If your child has an older sibling, we are asking all older siblings to come to the front porch and sit in their sibling's kindergarten line.
