We are about to enter our last week of school, oh man where did this year go?
We started working on our camping activities and we have practiced for our awards ceremony. The kids looks so cute up there on stage and singing. I have only teared up once and that was yesterday so I am doing pretty good, so far :)
Thank you all for coming to our open house on Tuesday. I was glad you were able to see your child's work and how much they have grown this year.
Not much more to update you on. Dylan is off today not sure what we will do this evening. Tomorrow Dylan's off, my older step-sister, jenny and I are running in the Round Rock Donut run, hoping the rain holds off. Then I have a couple of errands to run. Sunday, Dylan works and we will go to church and then get everything ready for the last week of school!!!

Happy Friday! How do we only have 9 days left of school? This year has flown by. Thank you so much for all the goodies that you showered me with this week. I have loved being able to teach this group of kids and we have had a great year.
This week we did a lot of catch up and finishing things for the end of the year. We started practicing for our Awards show and I have already teared up watching them sing and thinking about not having them in my class next year. but I can't wait to see what their future holds.
Raphael was our star student this week and we loved learning more about him. Melanie had Mr. Ruff-Ruff last weekend and they went to so many places and had a great weekend. Mr. Ruff-Ruff will go home with Raphael today and spend the weekend with him and his family. Mr. Tyler, Kaitlyn's dad came and read to us today. Thank you for coming and reading to us today. We are starting to celebrate all of our summer birthdays so be on the lookout for the birthday bag coming home if your child has a summer birthday.
Our open house will be next Tuesday, May 14th from 5:00-6:00 come and go in our classroom. We look forward to seeing all of you and I can't wait for you to see how much progress your child has made this year. Our Awards ceremony will be on Monday, May 20th from 1:30-2:30 in the cafeteria. We will show a slideshow, each class will get awards, they will sing to songs and then we are asking that you all come back to our classroom so the kids can give you something special.
We have gotten two tents so far, if you have a tent we could borrow please send it in next week. The kids will be able to sit in the tent and read and do their work during our glamping (camping) weeks, which is already next week. We will decorate after school on Monday of next week.
Just a reminder that the STAAR test will be going on next Monday-Wednesday (13th, 14th, and 15th) we ask that no visitors come up that day, which means Tuesday folders will be going home and getting stuffed on Friday of next week.
Our end of year party will be on Thursday, May 23rd from 8:30-10:05. There will be something different in each Kindergarten classroom so we will be rotating rooms. More information should be coming out soon.
Dylan works today and we have no plans tonight since movie in the park got cancelled. Tomorrow Dylan works and we are going to lunch with my side of the family to celebrate mother's day with my step-mom and then the kids and I are going to the movies with some friends. Sunday, Dylan is off and we are going to church and then either his mom's house or the Express game. It's still up in the air but I will be with my kids and that's all that matters. Happy Bobcat Bash day and the last Friday of April (how did that happen?)
We learned the sight words get, from and the word family -un. We reviewed 3D shapes and money, finished talking about plants and the life cycle. We even got to see the inside of lima beans. Some of our plants are growing and some aren't. They will be bringing their plants home today. Nate's dad, Mr. Jason and Nate's grandmother were our parent readers today. Thank you for coming and filling in. We really enjoyed the hockey books. Melanie will be our star student next week.
We are going to start celebrating the summer birthdays, so if your child has a summer birthday the birthday bag will be coming home. You can read the books and if you want to write about their last birthday (5th or 6th birthday) that's fine or you don't have to write at all. Totally up to you. Keep the bag for a few days and then please return it so we can get through all 5 summer birthdays.
Looking forward to seeing everyone tonight at the Bobcat Bash tonight. They are decorating the school and the kids are loving seeing all of the decorations. Jump rope for heart prizes are slowly coming in so check your child's backpack.
Tuesday we will be sending home the field trip note in the Tuesday folders. Please sign all the sheets and turn in the money by Friday, May 3rd. We hope you will be able to join us when we go on May 8th.

Hello! We made it through the first week of STAAR testing. The kids did great for being in the classroom as long as they were. They were great for Mrs. Riddle as well. We got a leadership shout out from Dr. Wilson for being so good in the hallways on STAAR days. Landon and I had a great time on the field trip yesterday.
This week we learned the word family -ub, sight words as, by and we continued to work on poems. We discussed numbers to 10 and what equations would make the number 10. Science we started discussing plants and seeds and the life cycle of a plant. Keller was our star student this week and we loved learning more about him and his family. He will get to take Mr. Ruff-Ruff home this weekend. I can't wait to hear about his weekend on Monday. We won't have a new star student next week since we don't have school on Friday. Mr. Jake, Keller's dad was our parent reader today. Thank you for taking the time and coming to read to us.
Remember that our Tuesday folders will go home today and they need to be returned on Monday so they can be sent home again next Tuesday if needed. There is Jump Rope for Heart information in the folder and the kids learned about it today in PE. There is also a Bobcat Bash order form for you to order wristbands for the event.
Dylan is off today and we are going to cook fajitas and hang out at the house. Dylan works tomorrow. The kids and I are going to one of my best friend's land in Llano. They are having their annual crawfish boil so we will be out there most of the day tomorrow. Praying it doesn't rain too much. Sunday Dylan is off and we will go to church and then Dylan and Landon will be going to Monster jam in the afternoon. Not sure what Avery and I will get into lol. I hope you all have a great weekend.

Happy Friday and happy April. I can't believe that we are already in April and only have 6 1/2 weeks left of school. This year has gone by so fast.
This week we learned the sight word look and the word family -et. We started learning about poems and will finish next week. The kids are making their own poetry book. We talked about number lines and adding and subtracting using the number line. In Science we talked about things that are living and non-living. Ansley was our star student this week. We loved her poster and learning more about her. Mr. Ruff-Ruff went home with her last weekend and they had a great time, they got to see her cousin's animals from the rodeo. Keller will be our star student next week. Caiden's mom, Mrs. Rebecca was our parent reader, thank you for coming and reading to us.
Please remember that STAAR testing is next week for the older grades. Remember when your child comes home with a new book in their red folder have them read it and return it the next day so they can hopefully get a new book. The kids are doing so well reading and are making great progress.
Next week is our last Enrichment class and then the Friday after Easter we will be back to our normal schedule. So recess in the morning and specials in the afternoon. Our Bobcat Bash is on Friday April 25th from 5-8 and the wristbands are already on sale, so make sure you order your bands today. I just ordered Landon and Avery's.

Dylan is off today, one of his best friends is getting married tomorrow and he's a groomsmen so he had rehearsal this morning and will go to the dinner tonight (I am going to stay home with the kids and come to the talent show here at school). Tomorrow we will all head to my dad and step-mom's house, in Lakeway and they are going to watch the kids for us while we are at the wedding. The wedding venue is only 15 minutes from their house so we will all stay the night out there tomorrow night. The wedding is at 4:30 and Dylan has to be there by noon so tomorrow we will be getting up, getting ready and head to my dad's house then I will probably take Dylan to the venue so we only have one car out there. Sunday Dylan will have to wake up earlier than normal and drive back to Round Rock, because he has to work and then the kids and I will probably go to my dad's church and then head back home to get ready for next week. I hope you all have a great weekend.

Hello! I hope you all have had a great week. This week has seemed super long, we had a bunch to do.
We learned the sight words here, that, word family -ip, we discussed graphs and Presidents. The kids thought it was pretty neat that I wasn't old enough yet to be president but then someone had to call me out and say "but you will be in a few weeks" lol. Kids are always honest! We started writing How Tos (procedural writing) and we wrote how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. We haven't finished it but we are working on our final copy.
Ty will be our star student next week. We are anxious to learn more about Ty. Ryder's aunt Jill came and read to us today. Thank you for taking the time to come and read to us. We really enjoyed the books. The Peanut Butter and Cupcake book was perfect since we wrote about how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Don't forget that if you are going to order individual pictures those are due on March 11th. Muffins with mom are next Tuesday, February 26th at 7:00am. Our first class of enrichment starts next Friday. The kids did their survey this week for their top 3 choices and we should find out early next week.
Dylan is off today and I am finishing getting things ready for Avery's party and then I am suppose to go to dinner and a movie with friends, but we will see how much I get done after school. Tomorrow Dylan is off and we will be getting ready and having Avery's birthday party. Sunday, Dylan works and we will go to church and then we have a birthday party at noon. Monday, Dylan's off and I am off for Avery's actual birthday, I can't believe she is going to be 5 years old. Not sure what we will do, I am going to let her decide. :) I hope you all have a great weekend. Pray we have nice weather tomorrow. Her party is at our house and we have a bounce house for them and a stage to sing, it's a JoJo Siwa/LOL party. She couldn't decide which one to do so she wanted both lol.

Happy last Friday in September. This month flew by. We have had a great week. We have been so excited about raising money for the fundraiser. They have come in every morning and talked about it. We are currently in 2nd place :( But I know we will pass them by soon. Other classes are catching up though.
Mr. Ruff-Ruff had a great weekend with Luke. They watched the rain a bunch and played. Preston was our star student this week. We loved learning about him. We learned that he really likes to play baseball. Mr. Ruff-Ruff will be going home with him today. Ryder lost a tooth so the tooth bag is going home with him and today is Collin's birthday so the birthday bag is going with him. All three of our bags will be out this weekend. Please return them all on Monday. Mr. Rodrick, Luke's dad came and read to us today. Thank you for taking the time out to read to us. I think the kids really enjoyed the Star Wars book.
This week we talked about numbers, sight word here, and physical properties. The kids are doing a great job during Reading Workshop and they are starting to like Writing workshop lol. They still don't like to sound out words by themselves, but they will get there.
Today a blue folder is coming home. This is the kids Friday folder that has homework in it. There might also be some important papers in the pockets so make sure you check it. Papers for the whole year are in there. It needs to come back next Thursday so I can check their math. You will be reading together and setting a goal of how long you will read for each month. There is a sheet behind the instructions that has pumpkins on it, that is where you will color in your families goal. Behind the pumpkin sheet there is 4 math sheets, do one once a week for that month. Then there is a new goal sheet for the next month. It will make more sense once you see it. If you have questions please let me know and I will be happy to help.
Soon a red guided reading folder will be coming home. This folder has a book in it that your child will be able to read. They might need help with some of the words but this book is on their level and will need to practice reading it to you. They will have read it with me and their group already at school. Once you read it please return the red folder the next day to school so they can get a new book. This reading is different books than the blue folder reading. The blue folder reading is you reading to them.
Field day is next Friday. We are looking forward to a fun day and we would love for you to join us. We will be participating in field day from 9:15-11:15 and then we have lunch at 11:50. Hopefully our class shirts will be in but if not then we will wear a yellow shirt, so I can spot all my babies. I will keep you updated.
On Tuesday in the Tuesday folder your child's conference form will be coming home. You will keep one copy and then sign the other copy and fill out the response form and return the signed conference form and the response sheet on Wednesday. If you would like a conference face to face those will take place on Tuesday, October 9th during the day since the kids are off from school. You don't have to have a conference unless you would like one.
Dylan works today and the kids are going to an open gymnastic event tonight with friends and then tomorrow Dylan's off and Avery has a soccer game at 8:30 then we don't have any plans until that evening and we are having friends over for dinner. I will probably go to the store and set out Halloween decorations Saturday afternoon. Sunday, Dylan works and we will go to church then go out to Lakeway to my dad and stepmoms house to celebrate two of my nieces birthdays. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Don't forget to raise some money this weekend for our fundraiser, we need to take the lead back :)

Happy first Friday in September. What a fun day we have had with our grandparents and parents coming to eat with us today. The cafeteria was really packed and as we walked in you could see all their little eyes get wider. :)
Mimi (Julia), Ansley's grandmother came and read to us today after lunch. Thank you for taking time to come and read to us. We were talkative but we loved having you here. We were just so excited from lunch.
We learned the sight words, can, like, see this week. We introduced our peanut butter and jelly partners (partner readers) and the kids thought that was the best thing ever. We are working really hard at our writing and learning how to sound words out. In math we discussed counting and numbers 1-5. We got familiar with counting the dots on a dice and playing roll and color the number games. We have also been practicing doing small math problems for problem solving. In Social Studies we are talking about community helpers. I can't wait to hear the kids talk about y'alls jobs and see what all they brought in to share. Next week we will talk about the All About Me Papers. Mrs. O'Brien our counselor has been coming in weekly with Freddy the Frog to discuss strategies to use when a conflict comes up.
Rylan will be our first star student next week and we are so looking forward to seeing his poster and learning more about him. Mr. Ruff-Ruff will go home with him on Friday and spend the weekend with him and his family.
I will be out Wednesday the 19th in the morning for our Kindergarten planning day. We get two of these a semester. I will still be at Fern Bluff but not in the classroom until 11:30. Mrs. Riddle will be my sub.
Our first field trip will be on Wednesday, October 24th to Sweet Eat Berry Farms.
*If you are planning to volunteer at school this year (including field trips and parent readers) please fill out this VOLUNTEER form. As a good rule of thumb I always encourage all parents to fill it out just in case. It takes several days for it to come back, so would hate for anyone to miss an opportunity to be at school.
*HEADPHONES-- We have chromebooks that we can use in our classroom to use for different activities. Each child is asked to please send in a pair of headphones in a plastic bag (labeled with child's name) to be kept at school for the year. They will be returned to you at the end of the year. Earbuds usually don't fit their ears well, so over the ear headphones are preferred. Similar to THIS is preferred.
We don't have much going on this weekend. Our business will start next weekend. Avery started gymnastics this past week, so we have her practice every Tuesday evening. Dylan is off today and tomorrow. Tonight the ladies on my cul de sac are suppose to get together and hang out. We try and get together every month. There are about 12 of us that live on my block. No plans tomorrow during the day, I am suppose to go to dinner with two of my best friends and then Sunday, Dylan works and we will have church and grocery store. I hope you all have a great weekend.

August 31, 2018
Happy Friday and last day of August. We have had a good week.
Mrs. Riddle enjoyed being with our class once on Tuesday while I was out. She had nothing but great things to say about them. Our class is working so hard to learn the rules and procedures and it is showing! Avery loves her new school and I am so glad I was able to take and pick her up the first day. I was even able to sneak in a pedicure for some me time and I was able to run errands by myself, it felt weird but good :).
We had our vision and hearing tested today. Mrs. Sarah, Eliza's mom was our parent reader today. Thank you for coming and taking the time to read to us. We visited the library and computer lab again. The kids did great logging on the computer. They have caught on fast. We have been doing Reading and Writing workshop more to set the routine. The kids are catching on, but are already complaining about writing lol.
You may see some Oops Notes starting to come home. Up until this point students have been given many warnings and lots of chances. Warnings will still be given, but students will begin losing stars for not correcting their behavior after a warning has been given. If students lose all 3 stars on their desk they are sent home with an Oops Note that day explaining to you what they struggled with at school. Please sign the Oops Note, have a discussion about the importance of making good choices at school, and return it the next day.
Morning drop off reminder... Please do not drop your child off at school prior to 7:25 unless they are purchasing breakfast in the cafeteria (begins at 7:15). The doors open at 7:25 allowing students to enter the building. It has been reported that there are many kindergarten students misbehaving on the front porch in the mornings which becomes a safety issue. There is only one staff member outside at that time, so please help us in this matter by not dropping your children off before the bell.
In the Tuesday folder next week, I will be sending home an All About Me Paper, please have it filled out and returned by Friday, September 7th. Academic Night is scheduled for September 5th at 5:30pm in the cafeteria. The Kindergarten teachers will be sharing a presentation that highlights some information about the year. No worries if you are unable to attend, I will share the presentation with you via email.
Dylan works today and tomorrow. We have a birthday party tonight. Tomorrow we are going to see my dad and step-mom, they live in Lakeway. My step-mom, Kaye had knee surgery yesterday, she tore her meniscus so she got it repaired. Sunday Dylan is off and we will go to church and then probably hang out with his sister and her kids and then Monday, Dylan works and we have no plans. We will probably go to the grocery store and then have Landon and Avery clean up my house because this week they have decided to bring their toys from the playroom into the living room and leave them. At some point over the weekend we need to go and get Avery a soccer ball, cleats and some more leotards for gymnastics. Landon isn't doing anything this Fall, he said he doesn't like people watching him play lol. Hopefully he will figure out what he enjoys to play soon. I hope you all have a nice long 3 day weekend.

We went to the library (we will go every Tuesday), we went to the computer lab (we will go every Thursday), our counselor came and talked with us, we meet with our reading buddies today (we will see them every Friday) we had our first Friday assembly and we had our first parent reader, thank you to Melanie's Grandmother for coming and reading to us.
I won't be here next Tuesday, Mrs. Riddle will be here. I am taking off so I can take and pick Avery up from her first day of preschool. We moved her to a new school this year so this will be her first time to attend a 4 day a week and 4 hour preschool program. She has been at a full time daycare since she was two but there have been some issues so we felt we needed to move her and my sweet friend is offering to watch her on Mondays and then take and pick her up from school the rest of the week. We feel very blessed that it has all worked out the way it has. I taught Mrs. Riddle's daughter a couple of years ago and she was my sub when she could all last year, so she knows how I teach and how I run the classroom. The kids will be in great hands.
Not much going on with us this weekend. Dylan is off today and we are going to the Express game tonight. Tomorrow Dylan works so I am not sure what Landon, Avery and I will get into and then Sunday, Dylan's off we will go to church and then not sure what else. I am glad we don't have much planned this weekend. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

What a fun couple of days we have had. We are learning so much about each other and we are learning the routines and what school is all about. I think the kids favorite part so far is PE. lol.
We have learned our friends names, we have learned how to cut and we have even written a story:). I am loving getting to know each kiddo. They are all so fun. We discussed our feelings on the first day of school, we counted the letters and syllables in our name.
I am going to be sending out a sign up sheet through google for you to sign up to be a parent reader if you wish. I love having parents come into the classroom and read to the kids and the kids love it as well. It will be on Friday from 9:50-10:20. If this time or day doesn't work for you let me know and we can figure something out. I will have the schedule on my website under the more tab.
I will also be updating the star student schedule (once I figure it out, hopefully today) and that will be on the website as well. I will also be sending home a reminder note the week before it is your child's turn to be star student in their Tuesday folder. When your child is star student, please make a poster of your child with pictures of them and their family, things they like, it can be anything. They will be presenting it to the class the Monday of their week and then it will hang in the hallway till the next Monday. The Friday of their week they will get to take home our class pet, Mr. Ruff-Ruff. He is a stuff dog and he loves going home with students from our class. When you have Mr. Ruff-Ruff take pictures of him and please write and share the pictures in his journal and on Monday morning your child will tell us what they did with Mr. Ruff-Ruff. Mr. Ruff-Ruff comes in a pink bag and his journal and himself. :)
Dylan (my husband) is off today and tomorrow, he's a firefighter. After school I need to go and get Landon's (my son) haircut but we will see if Dylan is able to go and get Avery from school or not. Dylan is out at a friend's shop welding. Tomorrow we have a birthday party at 10:30 and then Dylan and I are suppose to go out to dinner for one of my best friends birthdays. Sunday, Dylan works, the kids and I will go to church and I need to go to the grocery store and meal prep because I fell way off during summer with my eating lol. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Please let me know if you have any questions.

You can read the books and if you want to write about their last birthday (5th or 6th birthday) that's fine or you don't have to write at all. Totally up to you. Keep the bag for a few days and then please return it so we can get through all 5 summer birthdays.

Don't forget the red guided reading folders have been coming home, remember to have your child read the book to you and then return it to school the next day. The website I sent out is another great way that your child can read at home (Teach Your Monster to Read).

Happy Friday. Are you staying warm out there? I hope this weather sticks around so we can at least have a cool Thanksgiving and not warm.
This week we learned the sight words "dad, am" We discussed adjectives, alliterations, number sense in math, and voting in Social Studies. The kids really enjoyed voting for spirit day, the mural that will be going on the wall in the cafeteria and for the Bobcat Bash theme that will happen in April on Tuesday.
Mr. Ruff-Ruff had a great weekend with Nate. He got to watch him play hockey. Caiden was our star student this week and we loved learning about him and his family. Mr. Ruff-Ruff will go home with Caiden today and spend the weekend with him. Lily's dad, Mr. Mike was our parent reader today. Thank you for taking the time to come and read to us.
Just a reminder I won't be here on Monday, Mrs. Riddle will be here. I am staying home with Avery. My friend who watches her is on a Disney cruise and left on Wednesday, so Dylan watched Avery and took her to school yesterday and today. I am looking forward to our girl day. I think we are going to meet up with some friends.
We will be going to the library on Thursday of next week instead of Tuesday. There will be an author here during our time on Tuesday for 3rd-5th graders so our time got switched. So bring library books on Thursday.
Red folders have been coming home please make sure to have your child read the book in the folder twice to you and then send it back to school so your child can get a new book from me.
Dylan is off today, we were thinking of going to the Movie in Park here at school but not sure if I want to sit in the cold lol. Dylan is off again tomorrow and Avery has a soccer game at 8:30. Then we are having a playdate with friends and then Sunday, Dylan goes back to work from being off for a week for hunting lol and the kids and I will go to church, grocery store and then we have a birthday party at 1:00. Hello and happy Thursday. This week has been all out of sorts. I haven't been able to read with many groups but I was able to read with some today so check the red folders. We had a great week with 50s day and Halloween. I loved seeing pictures of everyone in their costumes. We were able to trick or treat for about an hour before the rain came.
This week we talked about the sight words mom, me. We discussed nouns and predictions, we talked about Pumpkins and we tied that in with Math and Science. We learned about estimation. We counted the pumpkin seeds by 10.
Nate was our star student this week and we learned that Nate did ifly once and really liked it. Caiden will be our star student next week. Mr. Ruff-Ruff will go home with him tomorrow. Mr. Ruff-Ruff went home with Ryder last weekend and he had a blast. Ryder's little brother keep trying to take Mr. Ruff-Ruff, he loved having him visit too.
Reminder I will not be at school tomorrow. I will be going on the first grade field trip with Landon. I will be able to take and pick Avery up from school tomorrow so I am looking forward to that. Mrs. Riddle will be here. Mr. Stribling, Ansley's dad will be our parent reader tomorrow.
We rescheduled our Kindergarten field trip to the same place (Sweet Eats) for Thursday, November 29th. If you were planning on going on the last field trip and can't join us for this date please let me know. I am pretty sure we will be sending home the field trip notes again because I think they need to have to correct date on them. I will let you know when or if they come home.
Dylan is off today and Avery has a soccer game tonight instead of practice (makeup game) tomorrow Dylan is leaving to go hunting till like next Wednesday (he said if he does good he will be home sooner lol). Avery has a bye week this week so no soccer game tomorrow. We don't really have plans this weekend (I am not complaining) we will go to church and grocery store on Sunday and play outside since it's suppose to be nicer weather (well at least last time I looked it was lol). I hope you all have a great Friday and a great weekend. Don't forget to fall back your clocks when you go to bed on Saturday night.

Happy Friday. We made it through our first full week of school. The kids have done great this week and have gotten a feel of how the rest of our year will go., schedule wise.
We have learned about syllables, Pete The Cat and started to write.
We had a lot of first this week.

Thank you to everyone who came to Back To School night last night. I enjoyed meeting you and seeing all the bright smiling faces of the kiddos. I can't wait to see everyone again Thursday morning. Remember school starts at 7:40 and ends at 2:55. The kids are allowed to come and sit in the hallway outside our classroom at 7:25. I will be updating our website on a weekly basis (typically on Friday) to let you know what we did that week and to let you know important dates that are coming up. Once I have updated my website I will send out an email to let you know that it's updated so you know when to go and check it.
Please feel free to email or call me with any questions or concerns that you have through out the year. I look forward to teaching all of you kids and watching them grow.
